New Year, New Habits

I didn't make resolutions this year....they always seem to set me up for failure. Instead I set a few goals.

1) To work out every* day in January (last year was all about losing baby weight, but now it's about maintaining - something I am finding is actually harder!)  *I know you are suppose to give your body a chance to rest and recover - that is what my yoga days are for.

2) To write a line or two in my planner about what happened that day.

3) We also implimented our new chore chart on the 1st of the year, but that was really more of a coincidence than a new year's resolution. A couple of wonderful side effects of our successful chore system are the fact that I have done some sort of laundry task every single day and with only 10-15 minutes of effort had the house in company ready shape every single day .

4) Design 10 pages in a personal blog book or photo book every day. I'm 250 pages into a book about Sam's first 2 1/2 years already. I am SO excited to see it in print!

5) Start and finish one organizing task every week. So far I have cleaned out/organized our medicine cabinet, laundry room, spice cupboard and created a lunch station.

If you would have told me even one of these things would be true a month into the new year I would have laughed. Following through on these sort of things is not the norm for me. I most certainly don't share this information to brag. I only share it to accknowledge that I actually accomplished all my goals and to encourage you that if I can do it, so can you!

I'm 31 days into the new year, but most importantly I'm 31 days into what have become new habits.

What goals have you set for 2013? What are you doing to make them happen?

  2. Lets see...my main goal is to stay sain. So I'm doing Zumba 2 times a week. That helps :o) I'm also trying to do things when I see them. Like if there's something spilled on the stove clean it up THEN, not think "I"ll do that in a minute". Cause minutes turn into hours.
I"m also trying to be really consistent on working with Jack and Hannah on "school" things. Its easy to work with James as he has nightly homework, but the other two seem to fall through the cracks. I'm also trying to keep up with the laundry and not have any sitting around. Our family closet has helped that ten-fold! No pun intended.
You are awesome! I couldn't get that much done in a week and you do it in a day!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves.
