Alphabitty Moments - X is for...

Six

After so many rounds of Alphabitty Moments it's getting more and more difficult to come up with a word for 'x' but that's not going to stop me from recording the little things of childhood! I would love to have you join me in this memory keeping meme! Jump in on any letter and leave your link in the comments. There's also a button on the right hand side of my blog if you are interested.

Today is the very last day that Sam is six years old.  How fitting to reflect on this past year of life with our Sammy Sam! There is no end to the ways he makes my heart swell with love.

My firstborn, my only son....
You couldn't wait to turn six - the age Mommy and Daddy said you needed to be before you could watch Star Wars. At first I was scared by all the interest you showed in violence, but you've proved time and time again that you are still the sweet boy I know and love. Silly is your middle name Sam! That excitement and energy drives you to want to learn everything you can about whatever your interested at that time, whether it be the military, snakes, scorpions, big cats, or dinosaurs.  I can't begin to count the number of times I've asked you to settle down or sit still when I'm talking to you. Forgive me forgetting that you are only six and that every day is an adventure that you are anxious to face head on! When the day is done and we tuck you in at night I cherish our bedtime snuggles and our discussions about what we have planned for the days ahead. So much to look forward to!!!! I love you Sam - Happy birthday!

Love,
Mama

  1. Sammy Sam is turning seven. That DARK haired little boy is growing up. He is a lot like his daddy when it comes to wanting to learn everything there is to know about something. I love the(e)xcitement he has when he tells you about something new he has learned. I love the tenderness he shows when he takes Elsas little hand and kisses it. I love the fact that his first name for me was blum. I don't know where that came from but to me it is precious.
Happy Birthday, Sammy Sam Love ya, Blum

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
