Preschool Graduation Garden Party

This post has sat in my drafts all summer. I figured if I didn't get it posted tonight before we throw Elsa a party tomorrow this one might never see the light of day.

Julia finished up her second year of preschool on May 21st with a sweet graduation ceremony and then we went home to enjoy the beautiful day outside with family and friends. Julia loved preschool and is really going to miss seeing her teachers. She loved learning, singing, playing, and making whatever project they had planned for the day. I am so proud of her and the young lady she's growing up to be. She has a heart for others and is SO generous with her time and talents. In one of the photos below she's cutting flowers to give away. It's what she does and I love that about her.

The weather could not have been more perfect. We have lived here for four years but it wasn't until I was scouting out where to put the tables that I realized that the pine trees made the perfect alcove for the kids' table. Julie was the inspiration behind the garlands that I made using 25 cent vintage bed sheets. She was also the one who recommended getting a rotary cutter. My crafting life will never be the same.

The punch was the easiest and tastiest I've ever made:

6 ozs orange juice (frozen)
6 ozs lemonade (frozen)
6 ozs limeade
2 liters ginger ale
4 cups cold water

Tea sets from estate sales, Target dollar aisle votive holders and paper lanterns, fresh cut flowers from our flower beds, & a simple buffet of Maple sausage balls, quiche, fruit, lemon bites, & mini cinnamon rolls set the scene for a special brunch for my special graduate.  I'll be the first to admit it was over the top fancy for a preschool graduation but those garage sale finds really make it cheap. I paid less than $30 for all the decorations and dishes. It really helped that we had so many flowers blooming in our yard at the time.
Congrats Julia! We are so proud of you!!!

Love,
 Mama

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
