4 years ago today.

I started this blog on the eve of my 30th birthday. 1,684 posts later I've accomplished what I set out to do with blogging - Enjoy my family as much as possible and record as many memories as I can. The unexpected bonus along the way has been the friendships I've made with so many wonderful women. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to stop by BearCountry, for your comments, for your friendship, and for hanging in there with me when I take long breaks from writing.

Just for the fun of it....
When did YOU start blogging and how did you happen upon neck of the woods?

  1. I started blogging a year ago to keep a running record of things I enjoy/my life with the hubs and our doggies.

    I don't know how/when I happened upon your blog - but I'm certainly glad I did!!! :D

  2. Wow! Congratulations!

I started blogging two years ago in May. I never thought I'd be blogging so long. Seems like a long time for me to keep with it. :)

Not quite as many posts as you though.

I have been lucky enough to happen upon bear country through a real life encounter! And even luckier that we will be staying in bear country for our maiden camping trip in May!

    God Bless!

  3. In April, I will have had my blog for 3 years. I started it for the same reasons you did, and I'm so glad I did. I've already looked back several times to help me remember how old Luke was when he started doing some of the things Liza is doing now!

You already know how I came across your blog. I'm so very glad that I did!

  5. Happy Early Birthday! You are just about one whole month older than me - I'll be 34 next month. Started blogging while pregnant in 2005. Many many posts later, I arrived at your blog thru MckMama's blog. And the rest is history! :) Hope you are feeling well. Happy Birthday to you AND your blog!

  6. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND I AM SO SORRY I FORGOT. I feel like a jerk.

Moving on. I started blogging when I was pregnant with Little Monkey Man after a couple of friends from high school caught up with me on Facebook and shared their blog addresses. After blogging for a couple of months my cousin started her own blog. Through her I found MckMama and started reading right before she had Stellan. You blogged for her a couple of times and I clicked her link to you and was hooked.

So so glad I found you and that we are friends. You have no idea.

  7. I started blogging in spring of 08. I was looking for a free way to have a website style bible study for the young moms at church. After discovering blogger and mommy blogs, I wanted to have one to keep far away family up to date on the girls lives. So, I started a bible study blog and a family blog. Now we have homeschool blogs and a children's church blog! Ah! :) lol I mostly blog at our family blog though. the others are once and awhile when I have time. I happened upon your blog at some point through Hilary's blog. And, we have Jenney's blog in common. Love getting to know you! :)

  10. Happy birthday!

I started just over 3 years ago. And the blog has evolved a lot in that time.

I came to this neck of the woods after (or just before?) the FMSC event. can you believe that was a year ago?

  11. Wow, four years is a long time. I started blogging almost 2 years ago, but I no longer use the same blog I did then. I started my current blog about 5 months ago. Time flies!

I just discovered your blog today, through your comment on today's (in)courage post. I'm so glad I did! Happy blogiversary!

  12. I started almost 3 years ago....after asking a friend "what the heck is a blog?!" LOL. I initially started because we had moved to a different State and wanted people to be able to keep in touch with us. Now it's become a wonderful way to keep track of the things of my family since I'm horrible at physically writing stuff down!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d
