Rain rain go away

come again some other day...when I don't have a i heart faces photowalk to attend and a bridal shower to throw. Julia was SO excited to use her new pink umbrella and it turned out that we had great light for the photowalk between raindrops so I can't complain. We shot at a location that I've driven by a hundred times, but never been to. It was a lot of fun and I was pleasantly surprised to see familiar faces there. Molly, our leader was asked me to be one of the models. The rest of the participants made it look so easy so I went for it....no makeup and a cold sore on my lip. Now I understand why people get nervous in front of the camera!

I always try to make the most of every trip to the cities so after I picked Julia up from her morning with Grandma she and I ran to the mall to pick up her flower girl dress and a gift for Sunday's shower. So much to get ready once I arrived at the shower and a long drive made it crazy with an over tired 3 year old in tow. I never did get to change into my shower clothes but the food and the company was great and thankfully my peonies held out and we were able to use them for some of the decorations.

Speaking of decorating...the kids helped me with the wrapping paper decorating. Craft paper and some crayon hearts and we were good to go....

I practically collapsed into bed when I got home because I hadn't recovered yet from all the gardening from the day before and being on the go for 12 hours wore me out!

This and all the other posts labeled "how I spent my summer vacation" are my way of making sure that these types of go-go-go days still get a place in our family's blog book.

  1. I had Lauren make some wrapping paper too on Sunday! How funny. I thought I was quite brilliant when I realized I had none that was big enough. Our Target had the rolls on sale for $1 in the dollar spot.

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
