Which is better? Color or Black and White....

I need your help. I'm going to be ordering one of the free prints that Angie mentioned this morning and since I can get half off another one I'm going to finally take the plunge and get some canvas up on my walls.

I knew right away which two images I want, but I can't decide if I should do black and white or color. Things to consider...they are both taken in the grass so they already 'match' but do they look more 'artsy' if they are in black and white?
I think they will hang above my couch in the living room. (The couch is sage green with a kahki trim.) I have a quote in the middle of that wall that says "We do not remember days, we remember moments" and I think I can position the canvases close together underneath it. Ideally the quote would go under, but that's too high for the canvases and I can't move the quote.

So what would you do? I don't want to miss out on the deal so will be ordering in the next 15 minutes or so....Help!

  1. The colors are beautiful, I'd chose the color.

  2. the color is pretty but you focus more on the colorful backgrounds. B/W brings your attention to the kids more I think :)

  3. Color .... some pictures were made for black & white but these are for color. Look at the beautiful color of his eye and the way the shirt & the flowers coordinate...I vote color all the way! No matter what you choose..it will be great pictures!

  4. personally I'd chose black and white. It focuses more on the kids.

  5. Typically I've chosen black and white for my home so the walls and furniture can change but the prints are timeless. However, the colors are beautiful in your 2 pictures and would be such a lovely addition to a room decor! Since they already match so wonderfully I think you should choose color!

  6. Color!

How would you feel about one portrait and one landscape?

Cause I also think it would be great to crop in closer to SB.

I love it the way it is, but if you were a bit closer to her then she'd stand out more.

Can't wait to see 'em hanging on the wall-- you'll show us, right?

  9. I'm 50/50. For some reason I like the one of Julia in color but the one of Sam in B&W. I think either would be very nice. I agree that the B&W focus on the kids, but the colors are gorgeous and very vibrant. I'm no help.

  10. I love the black and white much more. But I am always a fan of black and white. If you know where you are putting them then that should help you a little. You won't go wrong either way. I blogged about you today lady :)

  14. black and white more artsy, and fades less over time. However both are good. Think also about framing....DC

  15. I really love black and white, but {to me} these photos scream color. Whatever you choose will be gorgeous, though - great photos!

  16. So, what did you decide? Your page wouldn't load for me earlier, so I'm sure you've ordered by now. I love them both. We do black and whites in our living room, so if it was me I'd pick black and white....however...The color in those pictures is just fantastic. I'm excited to see the finished product, with the quote, up! How fun to be decorating and not UNdecorating :o)

  18. what did you end up doing? I think my vote is color, but fabulous pictures either way. Look forward to seeing the canvas prints!

  19. Both are really great shots to transform into canvas art by. I have seen similar images printed on canvas and they turned out great.
The colors are stellar, but I prefer the timeless feel to the black and white images.

Either choice will be good for a canvas print. What did you decide on?

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!!
