Spreading the Good News

A while back I entered a contest to win a box of Jesus Storybook Bibles and while I didn't win, my friend Tina did. Bless her heart - she sent one to my kids for Christmas. I have heard nothing but great things about how well Sally Lloyd Jones weaves together the Bible stories that I want my children to hide away in their hearts. What I love is how she makes The Truth understandable for little ears. The first night we sat down to read the Jesus Storybook Bible we read 40 pages. That's a whole lotta Truth in one sitting!!!
I could go on and on about how I think this is one of the best books you could buy for the little people in your life, but I'll let Sam's words speak for themselves.

"Yes, let's read extra pages in my Bible tonight instead of reading a different book first!"

"Can you read just one more Mommy?"

One of the things we're doing differently in this new year is to not watch TV as a method of unwinding after school. Sam get's SO worn out from all the stimulation that he needs to eat and do something that doesn't involve other people as soon as he gets home. I've started playing the audio CD's of the Storybook Bible instead and it works like a charm.

Is there a product or book that you are excited about using in 2010? I'd love to hear about it!

  3. I want to buy a copy of that for our family to enjoy too. This year, we got rid of cable TV/satellite, etc. and sold our Xboxes. The kids are allowed to watch Christian videos & movies occasionally but other than that there is no TV in our home. It has been such a blessing and our family is already growing closer & doing more things together.

  5. what a great way to unwind! I love when my girls are sitting and coloring or doing puzzles while kids worship music is playing or they are listening to bible stories on tape. We have also been listening to our Junior Bible Quiz questions too. The girls are learning so much about God's word through that!

  6. Camille got the Jesus Storybook Bible for Christmas from her God mother. And even though she's not quite even 2 years old, every night after she gets into her jammies she says, "Bible! Bible!" and sits ever so patiently throu an entire chapter (about five minutes). We're already nearly halfway through the book. Even if she's not understanding it all, I love that she enjoys hearing the stories!

  7. Beautiful illustrations in this Bible! My daughter was just picking books to pack up to store in the garage for a while and she picked her Bible because "I never read this one." oops!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean
