My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes.
My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it.

I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task.
Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday.

I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I want for my birthday this year is to hear from you. How did you happen to find me here in BearCountry?

I will donate 17 cents (enough for one meal through Feed My Starving Children) for every person that leaves a comment on this post in the next 24 hours. (FMSC is the same organization I blogged about last week when 39 bloggers packed meals for FMSC.)

And now it's time for the rest of my birthday celebration....the kids are helping me make frosting for a cake. We'll see how much of it makes it onto the cake......

  1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I found you through MckMama, and I've been hooked since. :)

I saw a movie (Pieces of April)once where the girl did something, then put it on a list so she could check it off.

  5. I must have first "found" you when you guest posted for while Stellan was sick. I think. I don't remember now :-)
Anyway, I found your blog and thought, "I think I've been there!" And, sure enough, I was just there the day before and had seen your daughter at the beach. I remembered her hair. So 1 beach in the middle of farmland + curly-haired cherub = park not to be named on this site :-)
So, I sent the link to Kristina and she agreed. I'm so glad you connected. Some day, when we're in Bear Country, I'll introduce myself. We're not too far west of you. Happy Birthday to you!

  11. I love the idea of giving on your birthday! And to such a great cause.

Honestly, I can't remember how I found you (this happens a lot with the blogs on my Google Reader). I am about 99.9% positive it would have been through a link off another blog, but I know it was not McMama like some of the other comments were. Someone else must have mentioned you and included a link to your blog and I have been here ever since! Sorry I dont' remember how I got here!

    Have a wonderfully Happy Birthday!!

  18. Happy BIRTHDAY!
Well, I think I told you last week when we met IRL that I found you last year about this time when I was beginning work on my first ever blog book. I was going to have you do mine...but the waiting list was so long-and for some reason I thought I could hit slurp, then publish and a beautiful book would appear on my doorstep in 5-10 days! HA!
I am soo glad we finally met in person and I look forward to getting to know you better.

  25. Happy Birthday, I know I am commenting a little late BUT I wanted to let you know how I found your blog...but the funny thing is that I am not so sure how I found your blog. I think I was blog hopping and stumbled across your link on someone else's blogroll. Then I saw your cute layout (the last one) and wanted to read more.

(I didn't check my blog yesterday for updates, hence the lateness). I found you through McMama and keep coming back to see what everyone is up to in Bear Country. I love reading about Brother and Sister Bear.

I, for one, did not find you via MckMama (although I've now discovered MckMama because of you). I found you from ECFE class - I'm the stay-at-home dad to Claire. Great blog!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d
