Would you buy my book?

hypothetically speaking of course. One of my goals during my vacation this month was to send out a few query letters to agents in hopes that I can find a publisher for Alphabitty Moments. It wouldn't be the same version that won this contest, but a more generic version that would apply to a wider audience. If you were in the market for a book that highlights the little things of childhood would you prefer to buy a book that already had photographs for each letter of the alphabet or would you rather stick your own photographs into a ready made album similar to this tribute album from Hallmark?

I'd love your feedback!

  1. Carrie your pictures in Alphabitty Moments are precious and of very high quality. Thinking from the parent perspective though I would probably want to be able to drop in or slide in pictures of my own kiddos. You do nice work!
I'm looking forward to meeting you soon at Cupcake.

  3. I'd go with a more generic one rather than a photo drop-in one because I think it would be hard for most people to come up with photos to match the words you choose, even if you choose generic words. Plus, your photos are beautiful and getting rid of them would make the book less marketable, in my opinion.

  4. I think a nice mix of both preprinted photos and the ability to add your own photos would be nice. I love so many of the photos you have in your book too so I wouldn't want to lose all those great shots either.

  5. I love your book!! I think I agree with the above comments in the fact that a way to personalize it would be more appealing to a wider audience. Good luck finding a publisher that wants to work on this project with you!

  6. Personally, I'd prefer to be able to add my own photos, but I'm sort of a control freak that way.

Your photos are gorgeous though, so it's a tough call, and as someone already mentioned, some people may find it difficult to come up with ideas of their own.

Maybe if you did a ready made version, you could add a section (maybe even a separate insert) with suggestions for each letter?

  7. I like Gretta's idea...a little of both. Honestly Carrie, your work is beautiful and I cherish the pictures I am able to see. GL with a publisher!

  8. I LOVE the book - especially letters "O" and "V". While I love the pictures used in the book, for others, I think they would want the option of swapping out some of the more personal photos. I think scrapbookers that just don't have the time would absolutely flip over the option to make an alphabitty book with their own photos. I hope this helps!

  9. I think you should try to get blurb or mixbook to buy the template idea from you for others to use as a starting point. The way you have it layed out with the details in the back is just great.

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean
