25 Days of Christmas Ornaments- Day 23

We bought this ornament in the Spring of 2006. I was 3 months pregnant with Julia and we were on vacation out West. We had cancelled our vacation because I was too sick to travel, but three days we were originally scheduled to leave, I suddenly started feeling better and we rebooked our tickets to Las Vegas. Our ultimate destination was a little town called Independence, California where our friends work for the National Park Service, but we spent a night in Las Vegas on the way back home. We had 12 hours to kill our last day since we took the red eye home so Sam would sleep. (He was 18 months old at the time).

There is plenty to see and do in Las Vegas for 12 hours so we kept ourselves plenty busy. I was so glad to be feeling human again and Sam loved all the sights and sounds of the city. Our only souvenirs came from the M&M store. I'm guessing I'm probably not the only one who can say that. It's impossible to leave there without something. We got Sam a T-shirt and we picked out this ornament for our tree. Now that Sam is 5, we have allowed him to start watching the StarWars movies so he's claimed this ornament for his tree.
Despite what the picture of his tree shows, it now resides at the very top of the tree, right next to the star on his "waiting chain".

  1. LOVE his tree & the neat waiting chain idea! I haven't been the best at commenting but I've read every post and smiled, laughed and enjoyed them all so much. Thanks for hosting such a fun event!

  3. Oh cute! My hubby's softball team may take us to Vegas for the National Tournament this year, and at least there will be one place I can take my children! M&Ms are pretty tame :o)
Star Wars was on TV today, but we didn't let James watch it...not sure he's ready yet. Being 5 seems like a good goal!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
