25 Days of Christmas Ornaments - Day 17

Christmas Eve is only one week away! Are you ready? I am. Or at least I think I am, until I remember that I still have 5 gifts to sew and some others to wrap. I'm still waiting for that one day where I don't have to watch the clock, I don't have to get out of my PJ's and we can lounge all.day.long. It's been a busy couple of weeks, but for the most part I haven't had to say no to anything. I feel blessed that we have so many friends and family to see and have been slowing plastering the side of one of our cupboards with Christmas cards. We sent ours out on Monday morning so I can check that off my list finally.

One thing I left off my list entirely this year is homemade gift tags. I made them last year, but I didn't have the time or energy for them this year. (If you want to read about how to make homemade photo gift tags click here.)

On to the 17th ornament now....this is a leather moose we bought on our honeymoon. Can't remember if we saw a moose on the drive to the Gunflint Lodge or not, but we have seen them up in the NorthWoods before. After breaking the first ornament we picked out before we even had a chance to bring it home, we opted for the rugged moose with the red scarf. He looks right at home on our giant wild Balsam. This is suppose to be the first ornament we put on the tree, signifying the beginning of our lives together, but I always forget to put it on top of the bin. Do you have a certain ornament that has to be put on first?

  2. I love the idea of posting and celebrating 25 days of Christmas. My hubby and I are in the poorhouse this year. But, we are spending time with his family, so my being with my hubby and his family is the most important thing to me during this Christmas season.

    Merry Christmas!!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
