I ♥ garage sales

Specifically the three days I garage sale each year. They fall right after I've switched to Spring/Summer wardrobes for the kids so I head out knowing exactly what I'm looking for. Remember this post about all the things I got for under $100? I didn't think it was possible, but I did even better this past week! I sold something on Craigslist (just down the street from all the sales! What are the chances of that?!) which canceled out $100 of my purchases, leaving me with 100 things for only $60. Most of the 25 pairs of pants I found for Sam look brand new. He won't wear some of them for 3-4 years but it would be stupid to pass up 50 cent 'new' pants.

Julia didn't make out nearly as well this time around, but based on her drawers and closet that I've switched over to Fall/Winter, that's OK. We were generously given really nice hand-me-downs from my cousins. She was too busy trying on three fancy dresses that I got for a total of$4.25 to notice that her pile wasn't as big.
Yes sir, I ♥ garage sales.

  2. I have the hardest time finding toddler boy clothes at garage sales. I know your son is a bit older, but still, great job finding him so many fun things! And I'm so glad to hear you found a fireplace insert too! (I just read it in your tweet)

  3. How cool! I LOVE garage sales. Living in Texas, I still have a couple more months of garage saling weekends....which is great because I need to find more clothes for my son. He is so skinny...so last years clothes still fit waist wise...but he just started sprouting up....so new pants will be a must.

You did pretty...awesome!!! on your garage saling.

  4. Wow, great job! I did some garage sale-ing on Saturday, but it wasn't great. I did however get 3 new pocket diapers + 3 inserts for $20 and no shipping on E-bay...I was happy about that! Hubby is supporting cloth diapering as long as we get rid of the flats/covers. He'll go for AIOs, pockets, and fitteds/covers. I've got my work cut out for me :o)

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
