Alphabitty Moments - the letter N

It's time for Alphabitty Moments! This week is brought to you by the letter N...

I knew almost instantly that I wanted to use Nursery for my N word this week. It fits the theme of Alphabitty Moments perfectly IMO. As an added bonus it allows me to show the kids what their first home looked like - or at least their first ever bedrooms in our old house. Want to see more of our last house? Click here for a tour.PapaBear picked out the bedding for Sam's nursery. I still love it. In fact we painted his room at this house the same color and use the same curtains. It's a Noah's Ark theme, but you'd have to look really close at the quilt to notice.

A few other observations from Sam's room:
* This is the room we were in when I told PapaBear I was pregnant with Julia
* The toy box under the window was built by my parents/grandparents for me when I was a kid.
* The doll on the toy box is similar to the one I talk about in this post*. Sam doesn't care for it, but I love it dearly. He actually said to me once, "I don't like that dead guy in my room." Poor Andy sits out in the hall all night.

And then there's Julia's nursery:

Her room used to be painted an aweful faux leather color that we decided to paint a nice neutral color for use as an office. I'm sure there aren't many people who decide to keep the red room red, use it as a nursery, and paint the other room in anticipation of a baby. But that's exactly what we did. Then when we were expecting #2, we chose bedding that matched the existing curtains and walls. No easy task even if they were considered nuetral. At a garage sale I found a leapard print set that would suffice. We really only use the crib skirt and the sheet anyway... The quilt rack held a special blanket my mom gave Julia instead of the one from the bedding set.

Now it's your turn to share your alphabitty Moment for the week...

Since Mr. Linky was being so troublesome last week, go ahead and leave the general url to your site so we can all catch up on last week's post at the same time....

* I tweeted earlier about a new blog I put together this morning. It relates to this post from up above and this post about a book I found. I've just started getting things set up for the new blog, but I'll give you a preview today... It's called You Don't Say! and can be found at www.theperfectquote.blogspot.com

  1. Nursery is a great N! The only reason I ruled it out is that it it is in Nicholas's baby book that I am working on now too! Love that you told dh about Julia in BB's nursery! Sweet memory!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d
