Hello Spring!


Today may be the first day of Spring, but here in Bear Country we're at risk for snow well past today. Remember the first day of Spring last year? This is what we woke up to Easter Sunday.

    Can you believe that we "crazee" Texans took a Spring Break trip to where there was snow, so we could enjoy it!?! We haven't seen snow here in WELL over a year! :) Your kids are adorable in their little snow suits

    I remember last spring all too well. We were still in Walker at that point and the first weekend in April, we had 26 INCHES OF SNOW IN 24 HOURS! Hopefully that won't repeat this year!!!!

    Happy first day of spring! I have crocus and forcynthia blooming and robins hopping around my yard (someone should warn them of our cat and dogs...)

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates.
