"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address.

Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

  1. Oh how I wish I could be a part of that! ...but living on the West Coast is keeping me from these acts of service.

Of course, I will continue to be on my knees in prayer, but I was wondering if there is an address that I could send something to. I know you probably can't give out their exact address, but is there ANY address that we can send something to so that it would eventually get there. Or is this a no no?:)

    Thank you!

  2. That is very nice of you to do. That is what I miss about living in a small town! Wish I could help in that way...but I will just continue to say our prayers over here!

  3. Do you have a way to post that on her blog as well? You are a great friend. Sorry I live so far away or I'd SO make her kiddos some food.

  4. Well, I do live in the area, and I am more than willing to help. Let me know anything I can do. If she needs gift cert, for food, ect, I can do that, or whatever!

  7. I've never before wished I lived in the Frozen Tundra until now. I would love to help MckMama since she has been so open about her family and faith with us.

I'm with Cathy, is there an address those of us from out of town could send cards, monetary donations and/or gift cards to?

    My email is sdridgell@gmail.com

  8. I would love to help, but being in Indiana kind of limits the help I can give. However, I want to send something (gift card, gas card, etc)and was wondering where I could send it to. Thanks!

  9. I too live a ways away but was wondering if there is anywhere that has a food delivery service or would gift certificates sent to you to give care givers work? If there are people going in and out, I would be happy to arrange for meals to be picked up. Obviously I could not hand deliver them myself but would love to call in and pay over the phone or have something delivered. Do you have any suggestions as to how we could make something like that work? I know she has talked about grocery drive thrus and things like that. I am open for whatever you think might work for those of us who are not in close proximity. You can contact me on my blog comments or email me at jsguerra@consolidated.net
Please let me know if there is anything at all those of us not living near can do for her. I know those things mean a lot to families with children in the hospital, we have been one of those families on several occasions. Thanks again for all you are doing.

My email is nikkersmarie@hotmail.com or you can comment on my blog...I don't really blog that often, but I will check it for you.

  57. i know that the problem of stellan's diaper rash is low on the priority list, but i thought i might be able to help...when we had horrible diaper rash due to stress/too many meds, we used equal parts liquid mylanta and desitin in the tub (any THICK paste with zinc oxide will do). it makes a huge mess, but the antacid in the mylanta cuts the burn on their little bums and and the thick cream helps it stay on.

also, i would like to send them a card or something if you would let me know where to send it.

  109. Carrie,

What a wonderful friend you are to Jennifer and family! They are so lucky to have you and the many others who have offered help in their time of need! I worked with Jennifer at Excelsior Elementary several years ago, but am a stay at home mom now and would love to help in any way I can. I could make a couple meals, pick up groceries, run errands, or send money/gift cards. Let me know what works best.
Please send Jennifer our love and we are constantly praying for Stellan and for her and Israel to remain strong through this challenging time with their precious baby boy!

  115. I'm in the northern suburbs of Minneapolis, but am home during the days, so if there is anything I can do, let me know. I am willing to deliver a meal or two, run errands, etc. I also am easily able to get to the hospital, so I could deliver something to MckMama there as well. God has really pressed this family on my heart, so I want to help in any way I can. Thanks for coordinating things, I am sure it is a HUGE task.

  118. Hi Carrie, My name is Aubrey and My daughter Stella plays with Small Fry in the Mops - if you have any holes in your schedule or think she could use some girl time I am very available to have her come play or us come to her or all of the kiddos for that matter. My Second daughter is on the same schedule at the preschool with Big Mac so you'll know how that would interfere, but other than that a lot of my day is free.

Please contact me if I can help!

  130. Hey Carrie - I have become a friend of MckMama over the past few months and am always willing to lend a helping hand. I live in the Lone Star State so I can't offer any childcare or ready made food to offer but I will do what I can. I was in contact with Hilary while Stellan was battling RSV and sent a care package to the family of stuff they like. If that would be helpful I could do that, but if something else is really needed, just let me know. Please contact me at jenoglv@yahoo.com for any suggestions. Thanks. Jennifer

  137. I'm not sure where the MckFamily lives, but I'm in Northern Michigan. While I consider this a frozen tundra at times, I doubt they are in my area, so could you please provide some sort of address to send a more personal letter or card of encouragement? I just started a blog at the inspiration of you, MckMama, and so many others I've found through these pages. I'll have to see where that leads...kind of confused at the moment :)
Thank you in advance for your help!! You are such a blessing to the family, as well as families struggling to find a way to help. Also, if you know of specific needs or wants, could you please pass those along as well?
    Thank you so much!

  142. Hi,
I live in Birmingham, AL and cannot make it there in person but I would love to help if I can. Is there a hotel nearby that maybe I could reserve a night for Mckmamma to stay? It seems like one of the hardest things for her is sleep. Do you know if there is any type of facility like that around? Our medical center has a Courtyard right inside the hospital. Just a thought. Please let me know if I can help. Thanks.

I am leaving this here- not sure you are still checking it, I have conntacted the Sheraton to try to set something up where people from all over could call and donate what they are able (maybe not a whole night) towards nights stays, they have called back saying that they are trying to get in touch with J about what she would like to do. we would like to help, but don't all have enought for a whole night. hoping that you can pass this message along, and maybe you know of a better way to collect full nights. TIA

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d
