Friend of the Broom

This post has absolutely nothing to do with cleaning. Actually, I've had nothing to do with cleaning for weeks. That changes tomorrow though. I can't tell the difference between clean and dirty clothes in my room anymore. Not a good sign....

Back to the topic...

I made my own wedding programs for our wedding almost 8 years ago and it's become a running joke ever since that Troy, PapaBear's best man, is not a friend of the groom, but the friend of the broom. Aagh! Ya gotta love funny typos!

Anyway...Troy, his wife, Carrie, and their 9 week old daughter, Lily, are in town from California and we spent yesterday afternoon enjoying their company, and playing Troy's nephew's Wii.

It was Sam's first experience with video games.

He L.O.V.E.D it! I think PapaBear did too. :)

While the boys did their thing, Carrie and I had a chance to catch up. The last time we had a big chunk of time to talk was when we visited them when I was pregnant with Julia. Their visits back to Minnesota are always jam packed so we really enjoyed hanging out with them all afternoon. They may be first time parents, but they are naturals.

My kids adore both Carrie and Troy. Sam was rooting for Troy instead of Daddy, and Julia wanted Troy to pick her up over and over again. She never asks to be picked up by a guy other than Daddy or Grandpa.

Troy's parents have lots of natural light streaming into their house during the day. Then little Miss Lily kicked her legs out at the perfect time and the perfect distance from my camera. I love it when that happens!

It was so nice to meet you love bug!

  2. Friend of the broom made me laugh. I've been trying to get my house in order today and I feel like I am the enemy of the broom. I think it sees me coming and cowers.
I absolutly love feet pictures....I think I may have learned how to take some in my photography class today. Well, at least the process was taught...wether or not I learned anything is yet to be determined!

  3. I typed my own wedding programs too, although I only spelled a name wrong. Those feet are too precious. Looks like you had a great time!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
