Not Me Monday - 16th Edition

A new year. A fresh slate. Makes you want to start off on the right foot doesn't it?

If it were only that easy! If only the laundry did itself, our house undecorated itself and marched the boxes down to the basement.

At least I have Not Me Monday's posts to read today. They make me smile and remind me that I'm not the only one with 5 loads of laundry to fold and put away. I'm not, am I?

I bet I am the only one who's husband used his Christmas money to buy these three books!

There weren't any other books to chose from in the entire bookstore. That has to be the explanation right?

This same man did not come home with Scary Movie.

His wife didn't almost ruin a perfectly good batch of chili by putting salt in instead of sugar. Four tablespoons of salt is not a big deal.

Speaking of food...
This is Sam eating broccoli for lunch the other day.
He has texture issues.
He's getting better though.
Would you believe he ate FOUR pieces of broccoli in one day?
That is not more broccoli than he's eaten in the past two and a half years.

I don't have to work with Julia very much on her eating habits.
She's a good eater.
What I do have to work on is how I convince her that sledding is fun.

"Your going sledding and your gonna like it!"
Those words would never leave my lips.
Nor would the these:

"We don’t eat food we find on the grocery store floor."

"Stop eating fruit - eat your cookie instead."

Since I obviously have a way with children, I've decided that later this month would be a good time to invite 30 children and their parents to our park for a sledding party.
Do you think I'm kidding? I'm not...really. For my 30th my inlaws hosted a birthday party for me with 19 children 3 and under. Hope you can make it on the 24th MckMama, Hilary, Morschens, McDonalds, Hansons, Landgrens, Fischers, Coopers, Chessers, Dilks', Lebens', and Shipleys!

  4. My kids LOVE to dip steamed broccoli in MAYONNAISE! I don't over do the fatty foods by any means but it's really delicious! It might help with the "texture issues." Seriously, is there any food that has the texture of broccoli with those fuzzy little florets? Don't overcook it. Mushy is an AWFUL texture!

Your park's sledding hill looks like the perfect place for a buncha friends! HAPPY HAPPY birthday! (You mentioned your 30th.) I just celebrated my December birthday by sledding during a huge snowfall we've had here in the Seattle area. It's snowing again! That DARN global warming! Gets me every time.

    Jesus' love abounding to you!

  5. Loved the "your gonna like it" comment. Doesn't it always just figure that you swear you aren't going to be like your parents, and one day, you have to do a double take and an "Oh My God!"?
Seriously sweet kids though and as for the laundry, well, as long as clean underclothes are available elsewhere, why bother, right?

  6. Please send some snow my direction...the weather man claims we've had 2 inches TOTAL since November, but I only remember a dusting sticking one time. It is JANUARY for heaven's sake! Ah, well, enjoy the sledding...we don't have any stinking hills in this state anyway!

  10. Tell Julia she should be glad she has snow to sled in! When I was little, I had to entertain myself by sliding down grassy hills in cardboard boxes! :-)

Ranch dressing may help the broccoli problem, if your son likes dips.

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d
