Raise your hand if...

- you've ever neglected to take important baby gear (pacifier and sling) along when you leave the house.

- you've let your gas tank get so low that you only have eight miles until the tank is dry.

- your two year old has run away at Target. (Only to be found two departments away hiding amongst the towels)

- you've told your child that you'd buy a toy so (s)he can show Santa exactly what (s)he wants for Christmas but with the understanding that Mommy would return it to the store later just so you can buy their Christmas present in front of them and avoid having to go back to the store to buy it.

- your child sees right through your little game.

- you've taken your kids to Target just so they can entertain themselves in the toy aisles.

- you've been in those toys aisle long enough to be asked for gift advice by the mom of a one year old and direct another shopper to the location of a specific toy when the sales associate is unable to do it.

- you've ever taken your children to see the mall Santa before Thanksgiving.

- you have agreed to sign up for a store credit card in a moment of temporary insanity only to snap back to reality when you realized it isn't worth $4.50 to spend even an extra second in the check out lane.

- you have ever felt like bursting out laughing at the extreme tantrum your child is throwing in the mall

- your two year old is stronger than you.

- your two year old decides to make that fact known to hundreds of strangers.

- you've blogged in your head while your kids scream in the back seat.

I don't know about you, but my arm is tired!

  1. I never thought of the toy idea, but how ingenious.

It sounds like you had a rough day.

My older son was screaming so loud once in the mall when he was little that I carried like a sack of flour screaming through the entire mall. When I thought I couldn't get out of there alive, other moms started shouting encouragement at me "You go mom" and things like that. Now I try to be encouraging to other moms when I see it.

  4. *raising hand* My arm is tired too! And that toy idea is BRILLIANT. (But I think my five year old would see right through it. Now my three year old? He's that gullible.) Sounds like you had quite a day!

  5. honestly, I my arm feels like it is going to fall off! Thanks for making me smile today.
(our toy buys are usually for some random friend or cousin... then when they open it at the time of gifts they shout, Hey I thought this was for ..so and so.. sigh. Gotta love our babies.
    happy day.

  6. Oh man - sure sounds like you had a rough Monday!!

We have forgotten sippy cups a number of times...thankfully Walmarts are everywhere!

I LOVE to take the kids places when I know I can sleep in the next day - then they get all worn out and I keep them up even later. :-)

I keep forgetting to tell you - I have now taken my daughter (3.5yrs) into evening church with us now for two times. I bring COLOR WONDER paper and she's a doll. She stands when we stand and then once the sermon begins, I let her draw. So - that just shows me that when they are mature enough, they will do it. The last time we tried was back in KS...she was about 2.5....and she WAS NOT ready. Hang in there - it'll come!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!!
