In the Den

We knew something was wrong with our heat when we left for dinner this evening, but we didn't think it warranted a call to the furnace guy. We figured our employers had spent enough money on us this week with a furnace repair, a furnace tune up, and a brand new dishwasher since our old one conked out).

Unfortunately they'll be getting another bill for tomorrow. The pilot light is out on the boiler. There are wires coming out of all four sides with no clear way to remove a panel even if we did know how to safely light a pilot light. Earlier in the day we noticed that the thermostat wasn't budging from 62 degrees even though the temps were changing depending on what I turned the dial to. That sort of issue can wait until Monday. No heat with lows in the 20's and highs in the 30's can't wait. First thing in the morning we'll be giving the furnace guy a wake up call.
At least we caught the problem before we went to bed. I put extra blankets on the kids and brought their monitors into our room so I could make sure they stayed covered and warm.
Seems fitting that I chose tonight to become a bear. We're going to need the warm fur tonight!

I seem to remember a heating problem when I was little and we all slept on the floor in front of the fireplace.

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
