Turns out I had the dirtiest computer the repairman had ever seen. My CD writer wasn't broken, but merely filthy beyond belief. My computer was also bogged down by another dirt of sorts and was in desperate need of de-frigging. News to me. I don't even know what that means so obviously I didn't know to perform that task on a regular basis. If you know what I'm talking about, then the fact that it took ten hours to defrig my computer might tell you something.
So what did I do while I was without a computer for three whole days? Nothing real exciting, but I will say that time didn't evaporate like it does when I sit at the computer at night or during nap time. Brian and I watched movies together, Sam and I snuggled in bed one afternoon, we all went sledding, we made the horrid mistake of going to the Mall of America on President's Day weekend, we went to church, I read two books, we had tickle fights, we played play-doh, Brian and I each had time out of the house by ourselves.... it was a good three days.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss my computer, but I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would. I'll have to make my rounds to visit blogs in the morning when I get up at 6am (yes I am still trying to do that most mornings). Now of course the kids will be up at 5:30. I'm banking on the fact that the countless laps they took around the house today either on the toy bus or at a full sprint will keep them sleeping soundly until at least seven. A mom can dream right?

  1. Yeah... I bet your computer is much faster now. :)

I know what you mean about missing the computer but NOT missing the computer. It's so freeing to be without it and it makes me at least enjoy the time I have more when it doesn't fly by while i'm sitting at the computer. I try to find that fine line... it's hard sometimes.

glad you enjoyed your time 'off'

  2. You know dust bunnies build up on your motherboard too. ;) If you take the case off and spray the insides with canned air it can really help keep things clean too.

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
