Cheers to you, Julia, on your 16 month birthday!

Another month has slipped by. Actually a whole year has slipped by when you look at these bath pictures from February 22, 2007

My dear sweet JoJo, you are still full of personality. You are starting to put on this silly grin when I ask you to smile for a picture (and sometimes you do it just at the sight of the camera). You've spent the last two weeks fighting a cold and pink eye. You're a tough cookie though and are on the mend. When you had your finger pricked last Friday to check your hemoglobin, you didn't cry. In fact, you didn't even blink or change your expression. Yesterday when a boy stood on your finger you just looked up at him, waiting for him to step away. (I thought for sure he was right next to your hand since you didn't cry out. Sorry baby girl.) At 29 pounds you are in the 90th percentile. Only 5 more pounds to catch your brother! It's been so fun to dress you in tights and put two bows in your hair this month. Your favorite toys are puzzles, backpacks, and pacifiers. At school you can't get enough of the slide or the songs during circle time. It took 15 months for the word 'no' to come out of your mouth and now in the past week it comes out clear as day. You also have started shaking your head 'no'. I'm sure someday I won't think it's cute, but that day hasn't arrived quite yet. You still love story time and are constantly bringing me books to read to you. During car rides you like to dance and be silly with your brother while you listen to music. Now that you're practically running you are joining in on the after dinner laps that Sammy and Daddy take around the house. There's never a dull moment with you around. It's one of the countless things I love about you.
Happy Birthday my sweet angel. Mommy loves you very, very much.

Since it's a birthday post,
I thought I'd through in a picture of her birthday bath.

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
