A rose by any other name

Fourteen months ago today we were on a high like no other. The birth of our daughter made our family complete. It took us days to decide on her name and now I couldn't imagine Julia with any other name. The nickname JoJo has stuck and is probably said more often than Julia - even though I love her name. Not too common, not too "out there". It suits her. It means youthful. I like the sound of that. Makes me think of the saying, young at heart. As her mom I'll always think of her as my baby that fit perfectly in my arms. I can't turn back the clock, or even stop it for that matter, but what I can do is savor every moment and that's what I intend to do.

To my baby girl,
I couldn't ask for a more precious daughter. I have been blessed beyond words to be your mom. I love everything about you - even your stubbornness. I pray that I can teach you, comfort you, cheer for you, love you, and support you in a way that is pleasing to God. Each day with you is a gift.
Love, Mommy

P.S. This month you've started sitting for story time and often bringing me your favorite books for me to read. (Goodnight Moon, Babies, and this one)

You have a kind heart. You are generous with your hugs and kisses

You are goofy and smart. (In only two days you learned to point to your head, ears, eyes, tootsies, tongue, and your favorite because you can say it - your belly belly.)

And around here, we'd say this qualifies you as being - talented. :)

  1. Oh, I LOVE this post!! (Did you know I had a post with the same name!?)

Happy 14 months, Julia. If you could write, you also would write a love letter to your mommy, telling her how happy you were to be born into her family 14 months ago, how proud you are of her for teaching you about God and reading books to you. How happy you are that she loves you more than words. I know your mommy knows all this, and if you could write it to her, you would!

Amazing, amazing, amazing photos of your little girl, Carrie.

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
