It's no fun to be sick - part 2

It has been a loooooong, horrible day at our house. Sam "slept" in our bed last night so I'm pretty sure it's only a matter of days until I'm sick with the same crud. I don't think I'll be able to get away with whining, "nose ruuuniiiinng" and expect someone to drop what their doing to come wipe the snot. After 3 hours of doing this for Sam I finally said enough is enough. He's old enough to take the Kleenex he's holding in his hand and wipe his nose himself. It doesn't help that 75% of the time there isn't anything to wipe. He's feeling it running inside his nose. I refuse to wipe when I can't see anything. His poor face is chapped enough. I'm sorry he's sick and I'm trying to be compassionate, but it's every 5 minutes that he is whining about something. Not to mention that Julia is still sick and needy herself. I'm not asking for sympathy, I just need an outlet for my frustration - frustration with myself for not bending over backwards to do every little thing my kids are whining for me to do, frustration that we haven't found a job for Brian where he doesn't have to be gone for 12 hours a day, and frustration that I haven't been able to teach Sam how to blow his nose and eliminate at least half of the nose wipes.

  1. While it's no fun to be sick, it's realllllly no fun to be the Mommy who has double, triple and quadruple duty when others in her home are sick. So frustrating. I'm so sorry, my friend. I really hope you DON'T get it, but I suppose that's not very likely. I hope bedtime comes quickly and lasts long for you so you can recover. And start again tomorrow. Sigh. I had a rough afternoon here, if it helps to know. Just knowing that someone else is in your shoes. Not sick rough, but bad-photo-shoot non-sleeping baby and crabby toddler and preschooler. I put them to bed early and without any dinner (though the second was by their choice!) and I hope they wake up better. Hang in there! (This is in place of a nightly e-mail from me...I'm so behind but don't see being able to catch up tonight. Know you're in my thoughts, though!!!!!)

  2. Wow, there's way too much of the crud going around right now that's for sure.

I don't know what to suggest for the nose wipes, I can't get W.W. to do it either when his nose runs. And the chapping is terrible. Right now he's getting it all around his mouth. Yuck!

If you have tried them yet, the puffs with aloe vera and vicks in them really do feel nice and smell good. Well, if you like vicks they do. ;)

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves.
