It may be Labor Day

but we didn't do any work today. It felt good to spend a normal day as a family - the first in a month. We walked to the park, ate apples picked from Grandpa's tree, played in the yard, took naps, played in the yard some more, ate dinner together as a family (spaghetti - a first for Julia. She didn't like it) , and put the kids to bed at 6:30.

The most memorable moment for me today was walking into Sam's room after his nap and wondering why his bare belly was all dirty. Ever since his "shirt strike" we only force him into one when we're leaving the house. This was one time when that was a good thing. I could wash the poop, yes POOP off in the tub with lots of hot soapy water and not have to scrub a shirt. I guess technically that would be considered labor. I chose to call it the part of motherhood nobody warned me about.

  1. Oh, I love all your recent posts! I hope your house sells soon! Sam is quite the fisherman, and Julia's such a cutie! Where did all those teeth come from! WOW! AND, 6:30 bedtime...I could handle that! Sorry about the poopy...talk about LABOR! :)

  2. Shirt strike? That's humorous. :) No news on our home, not even a showing. We live in a newly redeveloped neighborhood though and nothing has sold around here since last year. I enjoy your blog, your home looks great, and I hope the LORD will sell your home soon too.

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...
