It's time to vote for Julia

Today is the first day of voting in the Evenflo cute baby contest.) EACH email address can vote once a day until the 15th. I would be so grateful for every vote! No need to scroll down to find this post every day, I've added a link to my side bar. :) Julia is the 3rd baby listed so it should only take a couple clicks of the mouse to vote for her.

In related news: The makers of the Kissaluvs cloth diapers we use requested more photos of Julia besides the one they chose as a finalist. Of course I was more than happy to oblige. I'm still awaiting my surprise that the company sent as our reward. The photo I used to make my new header placed second in a local photo competition. (Two other photographs placed first and third in their categories). It's been an exciting summer for taking pictures!!

The following is the email I just got this evening from Hp. I'd completely given up on that contest. Now that's a pleasant surprise!

Holy Guaca-moly you've won!

Congratulations! Your photo entry has made you a lucky third prize winner
in the HP/ Shrek the Third Capture Your Ever After photo contest. Your
prize includes an HP Photosmart A616 compact printer, carrying case, and
an HP Custom 110 Series photo value pack.

  1. Congratulations! Where did all this photo-taking talent come from? Um, what kind of camera do you have? :)

  2. That's a good question Yvette! I don't think I've ever blogged about that before. Both my parents were big into photography. My dad did some professional work as a wedding photographer. (so did my mom's brother) I've done a couple weddings, but certainly wouldn't consider myself a professional. I started taking pictures when I was ten years old - gosh has it really been 20 years already? Wow! I guess I do have boxes and boxes of pictures to attest to that fact. I entered photographs in the county fairs for 10 years using a SLR camera that I still own, but haven't touched since I got my digital. I opted for the convenience of a point-and-shoot. It's a Nikon Coolpix 5600. (5.1 Megapixels)
I'm dreaming of the day I can upgrade to something like Jennifer's digital SLR.

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
