BYOT (Bring Your Own Treats)


Our town hosts an ice cream social and kids concert on the square every summer. We went last year and learned that it's not worth standing in line for the entire concert to get a measly little cup of ice cream. This year we got smart. We brought our own!





But first we took Sam's new kite to the park to show Daddy how well it flies.







The Splatter Sisters were entertaining until the sugar from the ice cream sandwiches kicked in and Sam got too wild.

Julia didn't know what she was missing. She happily chowed down her millet porridge with ground kidney beans and avocado.







There's nothing better than free entertainment and $1.64 for a box of ice cream sandwiches to kick off the weekend.

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list.
