Denver - Day 1

We left for the airport at 4:30 and had a great flight.

We got to ride the train to baggage claim. Bonus!
I love how Julia is holding on like the recording said to.

We were all super excited to see Daddy!!

Together at last.

We spent 4 hours at the Denver Zoo. Boy is that a cool place!
The weather was perfect!

My first ride on a Merry-Go-Round animal in decades.

The best part of going to the zoo is seeing it through the eyes of my children.

Bonding with Grandma

Yummy Ice Cream!!!

Where's mine?

I love this one of Sam and Grandma on the train.

These were some of our favorite animals:

As expected we were exhausted by the end of the day and went to the hotel to check in and hopefully get a good nights rest. Mission accomplished! The kids both went to sleep well and slept through the night. Good thing too because the next day was just as busy......

  1. Looks like a great beginning to your trip! I think your stroller is really neat! You want to know what I thought about as I was looking at your pictures? I couldn't imagine having to carry Julia at the zoo! Hope she sat in the stroller or you were able to carry her in the sling!

  2. Thankfully she was happy to sit in the stroller a lot of the time. 25+ pounds of baby girl is too much for me without the sling so it was nice to have that option as well. You'll see it in future pictures that sometimes I used the sling as a purse. It was an easy way to grab the camera I needed at the moment.

  3. What a great trip so far! Miriam especially enjoyed all of the animals. I hear you on 25 pounds being too much to carry. Miriam is about that much, and now that I have Kevin, she doesn't get carried around too much. But there is something to the denseness of babies. Kevin is only 15 pounds but seems to be heavier since his weight isn't as spread out as Miriam's. Look forward to more pictures.

  4. I was JUST thinking of you today Valerie! I wanted to thank you for the travel tip about extra clothes for me. Julia rarely has a blow out that gets on anything else besides her own clothes, but sure enough, when we were dropped off at the airport on Monday I got a bunch on me.

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
