A Public Service Announcement

If you've ever tried to download any of my photographs before you might have noticed that the images are protected. This is for the safety of my family and it provides me with copyright protection on my photography blog.

Yesterday a reader asked me how I do this. I thought rather than replying to only her I would share this valuable nugget with everyone.

Please note that you can't just copy and paste this as a page element. First you need to add a "<" at the very beginning, then in the very first line should have a "<" before the /script and a ">" after it. If I type it out correctly the computer will put the code to use, rather than display it for you.

script type="text/javascript">
var message="Protected image can not be saved.";
function click(e) {
if (document.all) {
if (event.button == 2) {
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
if (document.layers) {
if (e.which == 3) {
alert(message);
return false;
}
}
}
if (document.layers) {
document.captureEvents(Event.MOUSEDOWN);
}
document.onmousedown=click;
/script

This little nugget of info works most of the time. My SIL can download photos to some of her computers at work, but not all. I figure every little bit helps though.

Speaking of code...I once found a very easy way to make photos on my blog larger. All I had to do was change the second 400 in the photo info to a 720 and sha-zam - bigger images. Then all of a sudden that method didn't work anymore. If you are a photobucket user there is a way to make the photos larger, but that's way too much work for this mamabear. Does anyone know of any other tricks to make images larger?

  2. Thanks for this information. I added it to my BLOG.

    I have learned more from my sister. She pointed out that you can still hit CTRL C to copy and then CTRL V to paste. This command only stops the copy and paste function with the mouse, not the key board. She said their is another code out their that stops both the keyboard and the mouse. I found that code, but can't figure out how to put it into my blog! I am currently working on figureing that out!!!

    Anyway thanks for your help.

    BTW I love the pictures of your daughter in the pink and brown! What a cutie!

Shabby Apple Giveaway!

Spring is in the air and that means it's time to start thinking about changing over our closets from Winter to Spring. I don't know about you, but that also means it's time to look for a few new pieces to bring new life to what I wear year after year. Today I can make that job a little more fun for you because Shabby Apple is sponsoring a giveaway on my blog! Yeah!!!! I had so much fun looking through their collection of women's dresses and don't even get me started on their adorable line of little girl's dresses ! It's a whole new ballgame for me now that I'm going to have TWO girls to dress. In the end I decided to pick this beauty called Azure Coast to giveaway to one lucky reader because us mom's are always buying things for our kids before ourselves. I just might have to pick up one for myself in time to wear for BabyBear's baptism this summer. It's perfect for nursing moms! Want to win one for yourself? See below , but if you d...

My Birthday Wish

Today is my 33rd birthday. So far I've celebrated by cleaning the kitchen, vacuuming, and washing clothes. My birthday happened to fall on a Monday - the day we set a few hours aside for me to do some of the cleaning that I just don't have time for during the work week. I love it. I get that immediate sense of accomplishment. I see results. I finished a task. Oh how that makes my heart happy!!!!! In my line of work it can be months before I can check a project off my list. All the while it nags at me and weighing me down like a ton of bricks that projects are waiting for me. Don't get me wrong, I love love love my job, but I also love that instant gratification that comes with checking something off my list. So when Mondays roll around I am happy to pick up my dust cloth or a basket of laundry....even on my birthday. I don't have any great birthday reflections for today....maybe another day. Instead I want to share my birthday wish with you dear readers. What I wan...

New shampoo for a new year!

Happy New Year from BearCountry! We are in the middle of a cold snap where the temps spend more time below zero than above. That means hats and gloves every.single.time we walk out the door for even the shortest trip. Thankfully we’ve been able to avoid catching any of the lice that has been making the rounds in our school district because keeping up with regular laundry is hard enough - let alone washing outerwear too!  Research has shown that tea tree oil repels lice and so we’ve been using a tea tree oil shampoo from Maple Holostics  this winter to give us every advantage against those annoying buggers!  Our family has fine hair so we have to be careful to use hair products that don’t weigh our hair down with build up. It is important to us that products we put on our skin are safe and not full of chemicals or sulfates. That is why when Maple Holostics contacted me about reviewing one of their products I didn’t hesitate to volunteer. I didn’t tell anyone in our family...
