Our Snuggle Bunny

Julia spent her 19 month birthday exploring her new playroom and riding a few rides at the MallofAmerica amusement park.
Friday was our first full day in the house and because of the monsoon outside we stuck to inside things. She's happy wherever she is, especially if it involves a stuffed animal. This little girl loves them all. Her favorites right now are Baa, Duckie, and Puppy. She includes them in whatever she's doing regardless of whether they are too big or not - which they usually are. Everything is over-sized when you try to put it in a LittlePeople wagon, car, stroller, and even the jumbo jet.

Our little peanut has been feeling under the weather for about a week now. I deserve the bad mom award for not noticing sooner that she hardly touches any of the food she begs for all day long. I had simply been finding her something to eat and then using those few minutes to try to accomplish something - like throwing the entire contents of our refrigerator into garbage bags while the rental lady is standing over my shoulder waiting for us to vacate the house.

I had her weighed yesterday to make sure she wasn't losing weight from eating a fraction of the food she normally eats. She tipped the scales at 30 pounds, 12 ounces. Today her appetite returned and with the help of Sam and Brianna, she polished off a 1/4 pound of cheese with her crackers.

With more humidity in the air her curls as cute as ever. There are a few on the top of her head that are getting pretty long. Anybody care to venture a guess how long?

Her latest new word is Memi (Semi). We spend a lot more time in the car these days and have to do whatever we can to keep the kids from getting stir crazy. I'm always talking about what there is to see out the windows on the 25 She's putting two words together now and forming simple sentences. "No nigh-nigh", "Bye Daddy"...
One thing she hasn't figured out yet is that Daddy isn't really a name. She calls all men Daddy. I'll have to get to work on that one. It's already caused some embarressing moments.

She's turned into a little escape artist. Twice giving me a heart attack when I couldn't find her right away. (an I assumed she was with Brian, he assumed she was with me scenario) The first time I found her in the street. Yes, I said street. Thankfully we live on a quiet street, but still. The second time she let herself out a door we normally keep locked, but was unlocked because we had carried a piece of furniture up that way. I'm so glad to be done moving. Even at the park though she give me this certain grin and then takes off. Good thing we live in a park and there's plenty of room to run.

Happy 19 month birthday my sweet baby girl. We love you!

"How can I help?"

So many have asked how they can help MckMama and her family during this difficult time and so I've set up a Care Calendar to help coordinate meals for the family. MckMama is coordinating childcare on her end, but you can contact me for the rest. Please leave me a comment in this message and I will contact you with more information on the Care Calendar as soon as I am able. Please be sure I can get in touch with you through your blog and/or an email address. Thank you for covering my dear friend and her family with prayers!

Elsa's Birth Story

The morning of July 1st started out like all the other mornings this summer. The kids let me sleep until 7:30 and then came in to wake me up. We ate breakfast and I started picking up around the house. We had spent the previous day at the town pool and because the heat index was going to be just as high again we made plans to go to our beach. The kids really wanted to practice their swimming skills but I didn't want to have to pay for the pool again. At 8:30 I lost my mucus plug and my brain started running a mile a minute. Could this mean we're getting close? Could I actually go early for a change?I turned to Google and learned that labor could be hours or days away. I feel I should warn you - if you decide to Google mucus plug be prepared to see photographic proof. Why people felt the need to post pictures to Google images is beyond me!  Moving on..... Just in case I ended up being one of the lucky ones who only had hours to wait until labor started I kept up with my clean

Party Hardy

I celebrated my 32 nd birthday with a Big Sledding Bash at our park. It felt like -29 when we woke up but we were too busy preparing food to notice. Here's the china cabinet that we used to chill some of the beverages. The rest fit in the refrigerator (once we moved all our condiments across the street to the park refrigerator) The first round of guests that arrived included this cutie... His mom, MckMama , his aunt, Hilary , and blogging In Real Life friends, Esther and her sweet daughter, Emma. Because it was so cold we didn't have to rent skis. That meant PapaBear could join the fun. He took me for a couple rides on our vintage toboggan. Tanner went down the hill at least 20 times. Sam preferred keeping watch over the fire with Grandpa, but I did get him to go down once with Isaac and I. Thanks Gene for keeping the fire going for so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill and Trudy took a spin around the park on their skis. Talk about brave! Seventeen of our g
